| As the last manufacturer
of raw polycarbonate film has ceased production, capacitor series
CMK and CFR are now designated as obsolete and are no longer
available. |

5 April Evox Rifa described that the supply of raw polycarbonate
film was becoming tenuous and that designers should migrate
to other series, principally SMR. Now the only raw film supplier
has announced that they will cease production. Therefore it
is necessary that existing users evaluate alternative capacitors
offered by Evox Rifa. For most applications series SMR would
be appropriate. (Users of series CFR may also consider PFR as
an alternate.) Series
SMR uses metallized PPS dielectric for operation at temperatures
up to 150ºC with stable electrical properties. As a replacement
for the now obsolete polycarbonate film, PPS offers improved
performance including lower losses.
